Counselling
Roby and Dani specialise in treating and helping people affected by depression, anxiety, addictions, difficult relationships, trauma and abuse. Therapy options that may be appropriate for you include CBT, EMDR, mindfulness meditation, guided visualisation and relaxation. Counselling aims to help you find greater understanding and the strength to change and live positively.

CBT
Cognitive behavioural therapy involves changing the reasoning behind people's thinking, on the basis that certain thoughts and beliefs can result in unhelpful reactions to situations. Behavioural therapy aims to change behavior. CBT combines these two types of therapies. It is effective for anxiety problems, including phobias, panic attacks and depression.

EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an innovative process for helping people with trauma, abuse, anxiety and depression. The client does not need to tell the therapist the nature of the trauma for therapy to be successful. During EMDR, the brain's information processing system is activated. You are gently released from unhelpful thoughts and limiting beliefs. EMDR can provide immediate and lasting relief from past trauma and abuse.

Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness meditation is the process of being right here, right now. You are neither reliving the mistakes of the past nor anxiously anticipating the future. With practice, clients usually find stress is significantly reduced, problems appear more manageable, and life becomes more vivid and enjoyable. Mindfulness meditation is a world-recognised therapeutic tool for the body, mind and soul.

Guided Visualisations
Our bodies can't discriminate between sensory images in our minds and what we know of as reality. What we think is what we experience. Because we respond more strongly to positive stimuli than to negative, the benefits can be extremely powerful. Many US hospitals now use guided imagery to heighten patients' immune systems, lower blood pressure, reduce bleeding during surgery and speed healing.
Hope for couch potatoes: one recent study checked out the effects of guided visualisation on exercise, with some thought-provoking results. The first group did hand exercises. The second imagined themselves doing hand exercises. The third group did no exercises. Results? Very little difference in gained hand strength between the group who did the hand exercises and those who simply imagined themselves doing the exercises.
Creative visualisation can also alleviate depression and anxiety, reduce perception of pain, lower fatigue and increase relaxation. It is successfully used by top athletes to improve their performances and by people with anxieties about flying, public speaking and so on.

Relaxation
Learning to relax is an important part of effectively managing stress and anxiety. Without that ability to relax, chronic stress or anxiety can cause burnout, anger, depression and medical problems. Being deeply relaxed is the exact opposite of the 'fight, flight or freeze' responses (see trauma ).

Professional Training Workshops
Workshops and training days for mental health professionals cover a wide range of topics, including addictions, trauma/abuse, sexual anorexia, toxic relationships, depression, phobias and anxiety. We teach new and mainstream therapeutic approaches to these and other client issues. Although all our work is client-centred, in order to get the most out of it, we ask that you bring an open mind and heart, and a willingness to address personal issues that this work may raise.
We keep these groups small. This helps you learn faster, and it allows us to give you personal attention and make sure you are on track.
